COMMOD Snow White
This beautiful house enchants visitors and viewers alike. It is almost too perfect to be true. Alexandra, the creative owner with a flair for interior design, had very precise ideas about her dream house. And the reality has come pretty close to or even exceeded the dream in this case.
“The moment when, after months of planning, my new home literally flew into the garden and was ready to move into within a few days, had something of a magical adventure…and to this day the extraordinary, magical feeling of well-being continues,” Alexandra enthuses.
Her home is also her workplace – recording studio and editorial office at the same time. According to Alexandra herself, the interviews recorded in her study are hardly inferior in quality to a professional recording studio. A great tribute to the quality of your COMMOD HOUSE and its excellent acoustics. The non-parallel ceiling surface and the use of wooden building materials, which bring in the necessary mass and damping, play their part here.
Monopitch roof with sky-view windows – a light bringer
Like all our COMMOD houses, this is a timber modular house in timber frame construction. Alexandra lives with her cat in the south of Lower Austria on its 91 m² gross floor area (75 m² net floor area). The house impresses with its white shaded façade and the inviting terrace, which at around 44 m² creates an extension of the living space by almost half. A unique feature is the combination of the monopitch roof, which opens to the south, and the handmade, high mullioned windows with a view of the sky, which let plenty of light into the house – even on dark winter days.
Symmetrical living kitchen in white and gold
A spacious kitchen open to the living room with access to the inviting terrace forms the heart of the house. The design of the kitchen is captivating with symmetrically placed cabinets, the combination of white wooden cabinets and gold fittings as well as shell handle copper fittings. A practical feature is the hidden work and storage area. Together with our customer, we planned the kitchen according to her special ideas in a simple and harmonious retro design.
There are several places in this house that definitely have the potential to become a favourite spot. Be it the bar around the kitchen island, the sofa right next to the Swedish stove in the living room or the romantically illuminated, lovingly decorated terrace in lounge style. There are really many ways to settle down comfortably here. According to our own stories, the square wooden dining table has often served as the centre of festive conviviality and stylish occasions and has often proved its worth.
Retreat and cosy backdrop for inspiration
To the right of the entrance are the wet areas – WC and bathroom. These are kept in natural shades – beige and grey. Golden fittings were also used here. Around the corner behind the washstand, hides a chic bathtub. At this point it becomes noticeable that the separation between the “public” and private areas in this house has worked extraordinarily well, as even the (guest) toilet disappears into nothingness, hidden behind wooden slats behind a mirrored sliding door. From the living room – also invisible at first glance – you enter the large bedroom with four-poster bed and dressing table. Separated by a shelf, the thinker’s couch looks into the study, which also serves as a recording studio for your very own podcast series, among other things, due to the good acoustics.
“My house is not only my most intimate retreat, but also serves as a cosy backdrop for inspiration for my work… many texts, radio contributions, podcast episodes and even a book have been written here in the meantime, but my home also serves me as a creative design space, so it can happen that I start painting a wall at midnight”.
When the home inspires creativity and at the same time is the favourite wellness and well-being area, a lot has come together and another individual COMMOD dream home has materialised!
