The COMMOD See House is an L-shaped home located on the shore of an Austrian lake. It consists of two modules that form a clear and precise architectural structure. Due to the site boundaries, the house was positioned to open toward the water and make the most of the views.

Upon entering the house, a slightly rotated visual axis unfolds: on one side toward the terrace, and on the other through the living area all the way to the lake.

A spacious foyer leads to the two bedrooms. Auxiliary spaces such as the bathroom, separate toilet, and storage room are seamlessly integrated into the white interior walls in a simple and elegant manner. Flush doors with continuous shadow gaps create a calm and refined appearance, contrasting with the large glazed surfaces.

The open-plan living area, with a ceiling height of 2.70 meters (8.9 feet), feels bright and spacious. Designed as a combined living, dining, and kitchen space, it is defined by a large window that frames the view of the lake. This creates a direct visual connection from the entrance all the way to the water. The circulation areas are also oriented toward the lake, ensuring that the connection to the landscape remains constantly present.

The living room opens onto the terrace, creating a seamless transition to the outdoors—ideal for warm summer evenings by the water. From there, the garden extends down to the private dock.

The bedrooms are located in the second wing of the L-shaped building. One of the rooms has direct access to the garden. A carport and an external storage room are also connected to this part of the building, continuing the house’s clear architectural form.

The façade, made of vertically arranged dark timber with a silvery shimmering grain, gives the house a calm, elegant, and cohesive appearance. Inside, natural materials, light wooden floors, and a restrained design create a harmonious and serene atmosphere shaped by light, water, and nature.
